It's been like 20 years since I've had it done, but gold plating isnt that much more expensive if memory serves. We had some problems with the brass plate tarnishing so we switched.

Warren, Interesting as I just had two metal globe body retainer rings brass plated there two weeks ago? Victor, the owner, did say since he got so little call for brass that he was thinking about draining the tank? Guess that is what happened? Regards, Paul www.severngaspumps.com
