I got these from a 67 year old man the other day. He said his dad tore down a old gas station when he was a kid and he helped and he remembers carrying these to the truck....what were they used for?

Thats what I thought but there is no hole for a wire to go out of it.

This was my first thought. But they seem shallow for this.

I love the fluting/ribbing on them!

Do you have any info on how/where they were mounted? How many are there? Where they mounted in any way that they may have work in tandem.

They are designed to accept a ceramic fixture like the one pictured, the set screws hold it in and the wires went in the large hole on the side. Then the glass globe attached to that, pretty early items. I've bought a few over the years.
