Hello to all, I am brand new here and needed help on trying to confirm if my globe I just purchased a repop or original please help?
Have to have a picture will be glad to help.
If the globe mount is made of steel or copper and threaded on it is real. If the metal ring is missing and you see threads on the base it is real
Here is a picture
Description: Milk white globe
Thanks Stevo, so when I was reading from other sites and forums, they stated that if it's 6" at the base then it's not real and it is 6" at base when measured. Unless I'm not measuring correctly.
Your not measuring correctly, measurements would be with the ring on. It's real. Chris
Thanks cggas! Oh, and another thing, how to tell what era or year it was made?
In the style of crown that you have If the glass is flanged(not threaded like yours) and measures 6" it is a repro. Any of the crowns are threaded and have a steel/copper/aluminum "fitter" are real. But, with that being said, and if memory serves me correctly, there are older versions that have a script or arrows around the bottom band(where yours has "marbles") that have a 6" flanged bottom and are real. Also, you can do a search on this topic as it has been discussed many times in the past.

this is not always the case... they did repo white crowns with threaded bases. they should be stamped in the glass at the very top of the crown.
I definitely tried looking for this discussion because I knew it had been talked about just could not find it. Thanks again tho. Btw, what year you think this one was made?

You find a lot of info in older topics
Lastgas contributed a lot of information that I refer to a lot in this thread:

the white crown with threaded base that is repro, the one i had was date stamped in the glass at the top 1998
I am totally convinced that it is real now, I definitely don't have a stamp date on top among all other points that would make it a repop so thanks again to you and all the other guys that have me there input on this particular globe.
