I've seen the name "Kesbec" in association with Esso's stations in NYC in materials from the 1930's and 40's, but what exactly is "Kesbec"?

Robert G. Calder, former executive vice president of Kesbec, Inc., a chain of gasoline service stations in the metropolitan area that was bought by Standard Oil Company (N.J.)

Mr, Calder, a 1910 graduate of St. Lawrence University, was a co‐founder of the Kesbec chain in 1920. He was a former director of the Edlar Realty Company

Kesbec was a company that ran a chain of service stations "not only esso" .. ... cool
