A while back, another Old Gasser (Bob May) was selling some glass Polarine bottles here on Old Gas. The first thing you think of is the shipping and surviveability!
I called Bob up and we discussed shipping and costs, and came to a decision to purchase with Bobs assurance they would arrive in good shape.
When the bottles were packed and ready, Bob called again to give me the tracking and assurance they were going to make it OK. Total calls from Bob before the bottles arrived was about 5, and always to let me know the status and finally to check and see if they had arrived.
When they arrived, I had the UPS man listen for sound as I shook the box, and everything was good there! I proceeded to open the box, and this is what I found! Each bottle was wrapped twice around with the small bubblewrap and then again with the larger type bubblewrap.
The box was the correct size, so the bottles wouldn't move around and each bottle had more bubble packing stuffed in between each bottle and around the perimeter of the box.
This box was then packaged inside a larger box, with Styrofoam peanuts for insulation between the 2 boxes! Bob packed this set of bottles like it was the most expensive globe available and kept in contact with me to let me know the status of the package. This is "THE WAY IT SHOULD BE DONE" and I want to thank Bob May for the time he took to complete the purchase, after he was paid!
Like DB always said--its the responsibility of the seller to see that the item arrives in the same condition that it was sold in! Bob May did that and more and I thank him for it!!!

That's exactly how glass has to be packed. If your not willing to throw it across the room you didn't pack it right. There was a guy on Facebook the other day that was upset with fedex that his globe was broke when it came in. Well it was in one box. Several members here including me told him it was not fed ex fault but the packer.

Glad to see a great job of packing! I'm not sure if people don't know how or just don't give a s**t when they ship….

I bought a single gas globe lens and body off Kevin and he packed it the same way. Came to me in great condition !!!!If you spending the money, a little more to ensure safe packaging is not a lot in the scheme of things

Nice job on the packing, I sent out 4 bottles, had 2 Styrofoam pads used in shipping, so I hollowed them out so the bottles would fit and spaced about 4" apart. After the two halves were taped closed I had about 4 to 5" of padding all around without the bottles moving. TC

Wow - just got back on a 2100 mile trip to New Hampshire and back. I picked up two fry 117 pumps. One with original perfect cylinder. Last night around 7 pm I was at Bill Evans home in Erie Pennsylvania picking up one of the two pumps and he told me about this packing post. Thanks for all the compliments. I have met some great people on this site. I made good time to New Hampshire and back. I left michigan at 4 pm on Saturday and picked up my first pump from gas pump hobbyist - Mike Horton at 9:30 AM Sunday. His lovely wife Sandy made me a lunch for the road - what a wonderful surprise and and very delicious. Stopped and picked up 10 lb of fresh Maine lobster to keep wife happy and off to Bill Evans in Erie PA. Would have been back home around 1 AM but the tired bug caught me. Stopped for the night and was home at 10:00 AM. Thanks everyone.
