Shipping something out of country to somebody on here (or VIA email) is not a problem. All of my posts CLEARLY state problems with buyers on EBAY.

I ship packages weekly all over the world, just not on ebay.

I was answering the OP question on why some on eBay won't,and I can understand their reasons,some of which I listed.
I'll ship to anywhere on the planet if the buyer is willing to pay for the shipping.I don't charge extra for filling out the 3min. paperwork like some do.

I just sent a package to Vancouver last month,and another to Ireland.Both buyers got the items in time they tell me,and are satisfied with the packaging,which is extremely important when your shipping long distances like overseas or across a border...i.e. double box.
..some people forget that.

Tomorrow I am picking up two display cases for Brad, the bringing a pump and sign back from Peotone for Steve.

Not to mention the countless hours I spend on here trying to help keep some kind of order going.

It is Ebay shipping that is the problem. I started blocking all but Canada from bidding for a while because of the final value fee is charged on the shipping cost also. For a extra $1 in bidding from a foreign bidder... It could easily cost me $10 or $15 in fees. Canada shipping was not that outrageous in cost. With the last round of USPS shipping hikes I have decided to block all foreign bidding...not worth the cost or extra hassle.

I think Mr. Wadhams nailed it. With Ebay and Paypal both collecting fees on the shipping, which is always much higher for bidders outside the country, it makes it tough especially on cheaper items. I sold a saddle to a guy from Canada awhile back that did not bring much but the fees on the shipping was horrible as it was a large heavy item. I wished I had not sold it at all or wished it had one less bid and sold in the US.

Nothing against foreign bidders as it is just the way it is and is the same for Canadians shipping to the US.

I do however, still ship to Canada and most other countries.

Blocking Canadian bidders is not the best business model to follow. I am registered in Canada but have a paypal confirmed US shipping address. Usually, when I bid on an interesting item in the last few seconds it makes more then a $1.00 or two difference. Usually rare items increase quite a bit during the slug fest during the last few seconds. In my books every bid is worth pursuing. The Canadian economy has held pretty well and there are a lot of people with a lot of expendable money north of the US border.

I have found that many Canadians have an address that they can ship to in the US if shipping gets too expensive.

Believe this!!! I'll never ship anything to Canada again. Biggest ***** pain ever!!! FedEx is out of the question, ups is a joke, and victims is redicilous. So whoever says shipping to Canada is the same as shipping in the USA or anywhere else is full of it!!! Be a lot easier to drive it there, drink a couple of flat ***** beers, and then head back!!!

If you can ship to a Canadian US address it is no problem at all. Going up there with the mail is not a problem either. Fed ex or UPS yes you are right, especially if there is damage.

All good points... My last job I was managing a shipping department at a small manufacturer and did frequent international shipments. To do the international shipments right is a fair amount of paperwork and it's way more than just filling out the customs forms. There are all kinds of crazy requirements you slowly learn the hard way. Every country is a little bit different too. South america, Israel, can get tricky. Never know when some random shipment gets stuck in customs for no apparent reason.

For my own stuff, I find myself rarely allowing international shipments, which is sad I agree. If it's low value, the extra paperwork is not worth it. If it's a valuable item, I'm afraid to ship it international because I have limited recourse if something goes wrong or if theirs fraud. So end result is rarely do international shipping even though I'm unusually trained on how to do it!

We have clients all over the globe. When shipping off shore, I use Craters and Freighters at the customer's expense. Usually, my buyers have freight forwarding companies in the U.S. who handle all the paperwork. We only have to ship to that port city, which makes things easier. As for Canada, my friends to the North, all agree to come to the border and pick it up from their US Postal drop....like a UPS/FEDX Store? We require prepayment on all items sold. Wire transfers are best. Freight prepayment is also needed before we let the items out of storage. We do have customers who contact their own shippers such as these guys seen on TV. When they show up in pick up trucks, vans or any sort of vehicle, you need not cover the freight costs, as the client has. I agree and feel your pain. That's why as a Canadian I have a U.S address for parcel pick up. I have always lived on a boarder town, and love it.

I would hate to be excluded from the variety of items in the US on eBay.

Now if we can just do something about that Canadian dollar...................

You know I have had little problem with established US eBay sellers who frequently ship internationally. Shipping to my Canadian address doesn't seem to be an issue for them. However I would admit that for larger items, in particular from people who infrequently ship to Canada, and therefore not in the loop so to speak, I use an US address. It is simpler in the long run.

That's interesting how you handle shipping, makes a ton of sense. For the valuable restored items I'm always worried about damage and being too far away to fix. The buyer is usually on me to find the cheapest shipper too of course. Good idea to just have that one shipper you trust and if someone wants something else, it's up to them to purchase themselves and take the risk.

We are hoping to get hydro and in door plumbing up here soon guys that should help with the shipping issues
