There is many Items that I see on Ebay, where the seller will not ship to Canada. I'm sure there are some Canadian sellers that wont ship the USA also..

Just wandering what your reasons are..

I realize that shipping is more expensive and there is also duty taxes , but if the buyer is paying the tab, what is the big deal.!

Because it is a pain in the butt to fill out all the paperwork. Then have the EBAY buyer gripe at how long it takes to get the item.

I ship to Canada, it only takes a minute to fill out the Customs form. I have never had anyone from Canada complain about how long it takes to receive their item.

I ship parts quite often off my website to Canada and other overseas locations. I dont have many problems when a sale comes off my website. I really dont sell much on ebay anymore, but when I did, I would say that 75+ percent of out of country shipments had some kind of a problem. Not worth the hassle.

What Kind of problems did you experience..

Was it things like lost shipments, broken shipments, or mostly whining byers.

I would say the top two were time it took to get the item, and the cost to ship. It just finally got to the point where I quit shipping items out of the lower 48 on ebay. I have pretty good results when dealing with people outside of ebay. I am guessing that other ebay sellers that will not ship outside the lower 48 had similar experiences. But then again, maybe they are just lazy... LOL

As well as the laborious customs forms to fill out,my experience has been shipping from USA to Canada via more expensive USPS means it won't be tracked like in the US,but it will be delivered to the buyers doorstep for the price quoted.
A dishonest buyer can then claim he never received the package and contact ebay/paypal.
Ebay/paypal oblige him and make the seller return all the buyers money electronically,regardless what the seller says.

Less expansive FED EX. & UPS quote you the price to ship it to customs and track it there,then a secondary agent takes it from there and delivers it to the Canadian address,for an extra fee to be paid upon delivery.
Usually a ridiculous amount I'm told.

You'd be amazed how so many bidders don't understand "Sorry No International bidders" Sorry. Crazy prices, paper work... Unless expensive bidding is going on, it is not worth the time over .25, .50, or a $1:00 next highest bidder.

the paperwork is not bad at the post office - BUT I have to take time to make a trip into town, wait in line at post office, fill out paperwork, etc... AND, I have often had complaints about the cost. If you shipped internationally every day with Fedex Ground, it's not terrible. However it does take probably an extra 15 minutes (what's your time worth?) - and that's if procedures are relatively fresh in your head. If you have to call technical support line for help getting the package processed then you have more much more than 15 minutes invested. Is it worth it? No offense to our northern neighbors, as they are valued buyers too - but you both have to be willing to consider how much time you have invested in listing/packing/shipping something - especially if it's a cheap item you are selling. May not be worth your time and trouble??

It is also the same for the Canadian seller to ship to the US. I find it, I buy it, clean it up, advertise it, package it up to survive the trip, take it to the post office and also fill out paperwork for shipping to the US. I seldom run auctions for under a $100 anymore because it isn't worth my time.
Yes, both Fed-Ex and UPS have outrageous brokerage fees if you are using those methods to ship to Canada from the US. I have been forced to pay at my door an additional $20 or more for a so-called brokerage, which is additional to the shipping fee that I already paid.
The thing that some sellers don't understand is that if you have a good or even a great piece, especially if it is Canadian, we can help run the auction bids up. Look at the price of the recent Red Indian antifreeze gallon, over $1200. If it was in the US and he wouldn't ship to Canada he would be lucky to get half the amount from only US bidders. I have often wondered what would happen if a Canadian seller on ebay had a rare US item but wouldn't ship to the States? Food for thought. Cheers, Don.

If that were the case for me, I would have a Canadian friend buy the item, have it shipped to him, then have it shipped to me. Problem solved.

Been there,done that and still paid less then the max I was willing to bid,if I was allowed to bid.

I just don't understand the majority of the comments on this post. I just sent a pump part to Norway. It took less than 3 min. to fill out the customs form. His name and address, my name and address, the item name and value, sign and date. You aren't willing to do that to help a fellow collector? As far as complaining about shipping costs etc and theft, Americans are just as bad. Every week someone is telling on Old Gas about a problem they have had and the majority are in the US. Ryan and cold pizza, you're willing to do what you have to, to get an item, but won't help other collectors? I just don't understand.

We ship to canada,Germany,Norway,Australia etc every week by USPS Take a few minutes to fill ou the form but no big deal Depending which service you use they get there in a short period of time
