Hello Everyone, I have been offered the opportunity to purchase an unrestored Fry Mae West 117. This pump is supposed to have a good original cylinder and is otherwise in great shape. The cylinder is made of blue tinted glass and is not damaged. It is etched with the Fry logo.

This pump looks really nice to me.

Any ideas on the value as is ?

I bought a 10 gallon Fry like you have pictured on e-bay last fall except the cylinder is still in it. The guy had it listed with a BIN of $2600 or Best Offer. I started at an $1100 offer and we negotiated back and forth and agreed on $1400. Here it is after a coat of Rustoleum red with hardner/gloss added.



Notice the difference in the tops. This pump has a Rush conversion. From what I've researched, early in the 1930's any visible gas pump selling retail gas was required to have a standard size cylinder. Fry was out of business so Wayne and Rush made a conversion for Fry pumps. Where ever this pump was being used, it was selling retail gas in the early 30's. I thought that made for an interesting history lesson and desired this pump even more. Back to your question, Fry 117's usually bring about $800-$1100 without a cylinder and needing complete restoration. A good cylinder is hard to find and in the last couple of years it seems like they have gone from $400 to $600 and in some cases, the blue ones sell for $800. I think a fair price would be between $1400 and $1800. Much more than that and you get in the range of already restored pumps that people need to sell. I've seen some nicely restored 117's on e-bay bring $2200. Hope this helps you. Let us know how you end up.

I think that 1500-1700 if it's in great shape and not missing anything but it is missing the gate valve.

I think the gate valve is about a $100 item isn't it?

Yes I would give about $1500-1600 if it was nice but most Ebay folks are thinking $$$$$$$$$$$

The asking is 2600 on it. It comes with a hose and nozzle.

Where is the gate valve located on this pump ?

Also, is there supposed to be some sort of shade around the lamp sockets ?

The shades are available but a good gate valve which should be located where the outlet pipe comes out on the steel elbow costs about 150. I don't think 2600 is a reasonable price unless you really have to have it. Maybe 1800 max.

It ended up being part of a package of four pumps total. Three visibles and a Wayne 60. I am picking them unp tomorrow, it is about a 700 mile round trip. I will post pix of all of them over the weekend.

700 Miles is a short trip for four good pumps. Works out to 175 miles per pump. Or, if you average 15 miles to the gallon round trip it works out to about $43.00 a pump for gas.

Great pump Scott & sounds like you scored some other nice pumps as well , if you decide to go with original parts ,i have the gate valve & brass gallon indicators for your fry.Congratulations on your haul!
