I have a wayne 511 and I was looking online at them and noticed most had a long wheel that turned and said "sale" when that grade was selected. well my 511 does'nt have a long wheel. It has a little aluminum sign that says "this sale" and it slides along when the blend selector is turned. Have'nt found an example like that any where. Any body have some info on it?

The computer you have is for an early 1960's Wayne 511. I don't know if you have the face plates or not but here is a picture of a new old stock set of faces for that computer-not for sale by the way. The pumps were the same basic units from the beginning to the end of production. The main difference in the pumps over the years were the different configurations of computers and faces. There is more variations in face plates than I can count. The white grade panel bolted onto ears that are on any computer all the way to the end of production, then the face plates fastened over that. The black number wheels lined up the holes and the pointer slide along and highlighted the grade. Hope that answers your question, Tom.

Thanks tom for that clarifacation. That puzzled me since the day I got it. Does this mean it's a rarer model?

I am not sure but the basic pumps were the same.There are some parts that were upgraded as improvements were made.The glass doors were changed and the computers were updated many times,the one like you have is a first design.The computer in my 511 was changed from 3 wheel to 4 wheel sometime in its useful life,I can tell because it still 3 wheel reset rod in it so they used thick washers to space the reset lever away from the pump.When i bought the pump it had 1985 Florida inspection sticker on it it had converted liters not gallons.It goes to show the pump could been changed many times,so your pump is rare as it missed the upgrades.Contact Jack Sims for a copy of manual for 511-D Veeder-Root 56A.This manual help me a lot when I restored the computer.

Thanks for the info. I believe mine missed the computer up grade because I did,nt get it from a service station, I got it from a man who owned a bus company in the early 60's and filled buses with it. I guess since it was,nt used as much as a gas station would he did,nt need the upgrade. This pump has alot of sentimental value, not because it,s my first but,get this, my grandma worked at the bus co. and filled up with this pump. Thanks again, will. Does any one know the value of my pump. It's pretty solid and the light manifold works but is unrestored for the most part.If you give me a "as it sits" value and a restored value that be great. Thanks.
