Can anyone show me a picture of a 60's or 70's standard oil gas pump? I don't know the name brand of the pump but it's the square kind about 26" wide and about 51" tall. I have found the style of pump I'm looking for but they are not standard oil pumps so I need to know the correct color scheme to convert the pump to standard oil colors. Thanks, Jeff

I suggest you get a copy of my Gas Pump Identification book (you can get a copy right here on this website, and any profit from the sale goes to the up-keep of the site). While it won't show you pumps with brands on them it will show you just about every pump that was available up to 1965. In my planned revision of the book, I am going to expand this to 1970, but after that they started going to digital, and there doesn't seem to be much interest in those pumps.

Welcome twins... If you get the "Guide to Gas Pump Restoration" here at our bookstore, it will have pictures of the Standard pumps that you are looking for, probably red & white or blue & white, depending on the grade od gasoline.The pics will show the appropriate decals and/or signs, and the dates that those color schemes were used. The book is a perfect companion to Jack Sims' book, and both of them will be reffered to quite frequently. Ok, so I'm the guy that wrote it... But I think its a good place to start for your first restoration. As I say in the feature, there are better ways to do things than this, but again, a good place to start. Keep us posted, and lots of pics too....
