Hi All,

I have recently brought back to the UK from France a McColl Frontenac sign we’ve had in the family for some 40years. My father bought this in the US and had it shipped to Europe. It’s a great piece and I’m looking to preserve it and display it myself.

I’ve been doing some research and trying to ascertain how these signs were originally mounted. Our sign has no mounting holes so I assume this would have once had a circular iron ring with a fixing clasp of some sorts to hold the sign in situ.

I’ve found a local ironmonger who will help fabricate the ring for me. Would appreciate any members sharing any pics of iron ring examples so that I can use as a blueprint to copy.

If anyone knows of any original rings out there then that would also be good to know but I imagine hard to source so fabrication might well be my only option.

Appreciate any help and guidance.

Many thanks
