This sign would have marked the commercial district known as " The Hill" in Grosse Pointe Farms Michigan along Kercheval Street.
It's double sided porcelain.
I actually bought this sign off ebay some years ago from a guy on Virginia. He thought it was a farm title sign.
This area, Grosse Pointe was were the rich of the rich, Dodge, Ford, Sloan... lived in the great early days of the Detroit auto Industry.
I've been in contact with the Grosse Pointe Historical Society were they provided me a copy of a letter from the 1930's were some Dr known for helping to create this commercial district and first using the phrase, "The Hill". They had no idea about the crown logo. It is still known by this name to this day.
