Thinking about having the Porcelain Dome restored for my 39 Stationlighter..any idea how they do it? Just fill and shoot with poly? Any info on who does this would be appreciated..

You can do it two ways. Fill chips with filler and paint to match. Or blast and completely repaint or powder coat. Porcelain is not replaced when you send it out. I have had the porcelain blasted and powder coated on tops. You will hear how much heat it creates blasting. It in fact blasts off rather easily. But you have to trust who is doing it.

Thank you for your reply...I have a friend in town that refinishes porcelain bath tubs...and old cook stoves, ovens etc...I guess he's worth a shot too...

I had one completely refinished in porcelain by a fellow that refinish's old porcelain stoves, and it turned out great! He was even able to add the black line around the rim.
Better go talk to your fellow. I'm sure he could do it!

If the paint to the pump is original then I would leave the top as be. If not and it were mine, I would touch up spots. Who is really going to see it that high up?

Thanks guys that's my dilemma ...I am considering getting a spun aluminum top to be painted and keeping the original safe...
