Well I bit the bullet and picked up a Wayne 70 pump, any and all input is appreciated. I am very new to the pump restoration game. I have a few questions to start off. I have been doing research with little success. The 70 with no ad glass is a short? When restoring the pump do people usually make the computer numbers spin along with the sight glass spinner when handle is depressed? I would like to be some what accurate in the paint scheme, I was leaning towards a Polly, bee line, signal type scheme. Would these be accurate to this pump? I have noticed in most of the photos of 70s that they do not have a retraction cable. Mine does and I'm wondering is this helps in dating the pump or was this a farm mod ? I hope to start on the project very soon but would like to have all my ducks in a row and a game plan before tearing into it . Pump S/N 144069-BD

I've never done a 70 yet, but can answer some of this. Sight glass spinner spins with the flow of gas and doesn't link to anything. I wouldn't worry about which brand was used with wayne 70s, lots of brands. You may want to skip through PCM guide to pump restorations, it shows brands and some of the paint schemes on different model pumps.

I bought the PCM guide book, looks like I need to buy one more book.

Paul I understand the sight glass function in its original form, I was just curious if people wire the pumps up so when you depress the handle the numbers would spin along with the spinner as if it was pumping gas just minus the gas.

So with the paint schemes to specific pumps is not critical in keeping the decent value on the pump

I'm new to gas pumps myself but did see this video on youtube which shows the meter connected through a micro switch in the nozzle. A little research has taught me that you can add a small electric motor below the meter that spins when you depress the nozzle. I've been told that some people add a small blower to spin the sight glass around too.

Extra effort but a classy way to restore a pump I would say.

Welcome to Oldgas. one piece of advice. take pictures as you take things apart or you will be wondering where this goes etc etc.

Loyd, very good advice about photos, On some projects Ill sketch diagrams also. Earl that is what I was thinking not sure If I would attempt it on this pump, maybe the next one!
