I tried searching but could not find any of my previous posts other than the last 3 posts ... forgive me if this is a rerun from 10 years ago or more

I barely recall the location in the greater Detroit area (sw) where I found these at an Estate sale in an ancient garage. Do not recall any other stuff from that site.

2 Hi Way / GO / Megafuel hand painted signs

One has the bracket the other is only single sided, composition material (not metal)

Size is ~ 3' long and 22" tall

Republic Oil Company. Pittsburg,PA.
They were bought out by Marathon.

Still curious as to:

any idea as to the ~ date of them?

were they a local company or a regional one?

when were they bought out?

thanks!

Jim

Edit: Found some info:

1901: Republic Oil formed to 'compete' with Standard by Standard stockholders, operating in secret. Galena-Signal Oil Company formed by merging of Galena Oil and Signal Oil. Kansas Oil & Gas Company absorbed the assets of Forest Oil. Later that same year Prairie Oil & Gas Company, another Standard company, absorbed Kansas Oil & Gas.

Found this pic too:
Republic Oil Company - Unknown Johnstown Location.

some info is better than nothing. I was exaggerating with the $500, $5000, etc, just for effect smile
