Hey guys. I found a lubster I may get this weekend. This will be my first one. This one just caught my eye. Never really wanted one before, so don't know much about pricing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, can you tell me how much it might cost to restore? Not worried about value afterwards. It being my first one, I'd be keeping it.

Thanks for your help!

I can't really tell what you have there from the picture. But, from what I've seen with lubesters, they've been going for anywhere between $25 and $75, depending on the brand and condition. If that sign is in pretty good shape, you may just want to clean it up and display it as is. Otherwise, having someone restore it for you could run you up in the neighborhood of $300 or so, again depending on condition.

I was trying to help a friend sell off a few but had no luck in getting rid of them. Not too many collectors looking out for them at this time.

I don't know, maybe offer $25 for it? If you really want it, go as much as $50 or $60.

Ron

Pass on it, will be a hard sell down the road, not many are wanting the round ones.

Is that a real sign or a decal?

It's a decal.

I wouldn't wanna sell it Dick. I'm kinda partial to it myself. I'd like to keep and restore it.

WE are Temporary Caretakers of this stuff, most of it will be here long after we are gone, whether it's still collectible or sold for scrap.

$50 tops if pump doesn't work $80 if it does. One less thing to have to repair if good.

Don't worry about the base shape so much especially at this value range. You can get picky later if you want, but as a first acquisition I say go for it!

Spend $3 and pressure wash it at the self serve car wash and see what the real condition is. If not rusted through, you could simply have someone sandblast it and you can then paint it yourself and save $$.

I would guess a local auto body paint shop would charge $300.

Most guys tackle these since it's mainly a strip repaint job. Nothing fancy. Also, that's why I say pay a little more if the pump does work, means you don't have to disassemble it, just flush the tank with degreasing agents.
