So there are several on eBay. Some empty. Some full. One is $63 buck others are $19.

Is it worth spending $63 today just to get one. Or should one wait until the $19 auctions come to an end? Or will they end up in the $60-$70 range anyway.

What are these pieces worth?

What are the empty but unopened cans all about?

The empty unopened cans were either for Display purposes back in the day or they have had a New Top or Bottom put on them.

I know which cans you are talking about, but without photos most don't and it is impossible to give values without photos...

The $63 can is a common Veedol can... Right now for some reason, most likely because of so many new Veedol Collectors, some Veedol cans are bringing outrageous prices..

A simple $20 handy oiler is now close to $35 with 2 days to go...

Empty cans can be and are...re-lidded on a regular basis...

All cans are hit and miss... Some will bid up an item because they know the eBay ID of a bidder and they don't like the bidder... Others will need a specific can for their Collection and since they don't plan on flipping the can will pay more... As I said, some are new and have money and will pay more to ensure they are able to own cans... Once they have some cans they ease back on their bidding.... And then there is the last group, those that have more money than sense. No matter what the can, they have money so they just need to throw it out there...

To some, full cans are more collectable than empty cans... Just as to some, metal can are much more collectible than composite cans... IMO, full cans are great... They are also an "accident waiting to happen"... Drop an empty can and it bounces and usually has no damage... A full can, because it is heavy crumples and dents... When shipping, a full can of course is heavier and can be damaged easier... Even if packed well....

My last point of contention is personal.... There are just too many people collecting Veedol at this time...... LOL

Another Bad thing about Full cans is they can seep around the bottom edge and the oil can Lift the paint off the can.

If a Full can falls off the shelf, damage the can, it can split the can & leak making a heck of a mess, damage carpet or Break anything it hits.
Check w/ your home owners ins. company about how much oil you can have stored in your collection or on your property. Explain that they are collectible items also.
Very few collectors insist that all cans be full for their collection.
