Great story ! Thanks for sharing. That will be one of my sight seeing stops when I finally take a trip up the coast.

Here is a great video of a B17 in flight. The photography is HD, the planes are gorgeous, and, most notably, it is shot as the B-17 takes off from Falcon Field in Mesa, AZ and then flies over the Superstition Mountains. to the east of Apache Junction and then on to Roosevelt & Canyon lakes on the east edge of the Phoenix valley.

Rob,

Who's doing this restoration work on the skins and on the engines? Is it a group of retired aircraft mechanics or is it friends and family of the Lacey's. Just wondering if this plane can still be certified for flight after all these years of it sitting and how much of the plane would have to be restored in order for it to pass an inspection and be granted air worthiness. It's gotta be an expensive endeavor for sure. Oh...almost forgot to ask, will there be a Lacey family member at the controls?
