Bought a large gulf can in England in pretty rough condition, 2 hours later after cleaning and polish with wd40 result is great

thanks, the cap is the same, it was repainted, so it cleaned it with acetone to remove the paint

Do you use the WD-40 with a soft cloth?
I'm always afraid I will damage the finish with my efforts to clean.

I use wd40 on paper towel for kitchen, they are soft and non abrasive
