Thanks Jeff, that pump had the right look to keep as is, IMO. I do really like a great total restoration too, kind of depends on the circumstances.

This dispenser was not necessarily made for Gulf. Gulf may have purchased most of them, but this unit was offered to anyone who wanted to buy one, and could be painted and branded for any oil company.

...if it has 'G R CO' cast on the pump towers, it was made for Gulf, and - like their pumps - was owned by Gulf...they were marked as property of Gulf Refining Co, for the same reason curb sign bases were marked...

...other oil companies (i. e., Texaco) may have used these lubester carts, but they wouldn't have their competitors' initials cast into the pumps...


Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
