I am not an expert by any means. Does this appear to be an original sign or a reproduction that has been bent and weathered? If original any idea on the year it would have been from?

Pretty sure Whiting Bros. never used pump plates , just decals .

Hi-Octane is right. Whiting Bros. never used pump plates, and their decals looked nothing at all like the sign in your photo. Take a look at this old thread:
