The Globe Of The Month for April is any globe that isn't round. That means Standard Crowns, Shell Clams, Cities Service Clovers, Phillips Shields, ovals, or whatever oddball shaped globe you happen to have. I sat down at my computer at 10:30PM to post some pics and promptly fell asleep. Its now 1:00AM so the pics are going to have to wait.

This globe is one of the most rarest, three sided, from the Grade gasoline company, a part of Seaside from @ 1912 to 1922 , when two of there three companys became one, the pump company stayed seperate then changed the name, the Grade gasoline co. and the Seaside petroleum co, became one and opened there first two stations in Ventura ,Ca, and continues as the Seaside oil Co. theres only three of these globes known.

Super globe John!
Phillips used this globe from 1953 until 1959 when they quit using globes.

Here's one from my collection.
It's from Standard Oil Conpany (Ind). Solite one piece raised letter crowns were used from 1926-32. This one is missing the dark blue paint. Most everyone thinks these globes were just blue and white. There are at least two original raised letter red and white Solite globes. I passed on one because I thought it was a fake or had been repainted. I later found out from a much more knowledgeable collector that there were red solite globes. They were probably mistakenly painted red.

Pumpman,
Any crown with a 6 inch base is a repro. Now some are being repopped with a 7 inch base. Be careful out there!

Here are a few ovals.

The North Star is from Oskey Brothers Petrolium headquartered in St. Paul,MN. It dates from 1965-80.

The Platolene 500 globe is from R.J. Oil of Terre Haute,IN. Its from the 60's.

The Hicksatomic globe is from Hicks Gas and Oil. The globe book says this globe was used from 1964-70, but I remember some stations using these globes well into the 1980's.

Anyone have a Shell or Super Shell they can post? How about some Cities Service clovers? More ovals? What about the various Standard Crowns? There are alot of odd shaped globes out there. Lets see some posted here!

Here are a couple of Cities Service clovers. They are both from the '36-'47 era. Just got the Koolmotor today! Happy me!

Cool globe Bobby. I really like those ovals. You're right. Phillips bought Paraland. There is another version of Paraland's oval globe that has a thin black line on the top and bottom of the white band across the center. Both versions were used from the mid 50's through 1970.
Thanks for posting this globe.
