I FEEL THAT THIS BUY OF THE WEEK DESERVES IT'S OWN THREAD. AMAZING FIND AND POSTING THIS FOR A FELLOW OLDGASSER.

FROM: GAS PUMP HOBBYIST...

"National Simplex & others:

So I get this e-mail in early December about a guy in Rochester NY that has about 10-15 pumps for sale. I call him and we discuss the kinds of pumps they are. He is not real sure but says they are visibles, clockfaces and a pile of junk ones buried in a pit that are probably good for some parts. He claims there are several people coming over to look at them, and if they pass on them he would call me back, which he did a few days later. It seems only one showed and he didn't seem to want them. So after dodging the snow storms in Dec. and the holidays I finally made the eight hour trip out to see what he had. Apparently his in-laws had a fuel oil distrubution company and had left this stuff in/and around the property. So in the first building I see 2 g&b 65's, a wayne 480, m&s 1EU clockface all in great shape. Also 2-Bennett 58 farm pumps and 2-Tokheim86 farm pumps. Also the fuel delivery truck was still in there. Next we go across the street and he tells me to look inside the building. Can't go in because the roof had collapsed and the walls were kicked out, however I look in and saw an Erie 753 LP and another g&b 65, again in good condition. Great, so now we walk out thru the snow to the back forty where they had dumped a bunch of pumps. The thorns had over-taken the pumps and a large tree had fallen down on them as well. So I start looking thru the brush and the first pump I see is a 36b, then a g&b 86 with porcelain panels, a wayne 70 laying on top of a wayne 60. Under the tree were parts to one visible(g&b), a few wayne 480's (too far gone) and a half dozen 65's(good for parts) As I started to pull things out from the shrubs I found three top halfs to a bennett 550 ringmaster, and one bottom half so enough to make one good pump. Then I dug a littl more and saw another square bottom frame. Pulled it out it was a wayne 576. Sheet metal and clock gone, however the frame, handle and visi-gauge still intact. The last pump I dragged out was a nation simplex model 60. Half covered in dirt. What a nice find! After all this fun he shows me a case of 15" inserts and 10 brand new price signs still in the original boxes. We spent the next day loading the pumps and salvaging as many parts as we could, and headed back home. I can't wait for the next find! pictures to follow."

Wow!! I thought sure that the story was going to end with the phrase, "and then I woke up only to realize that it was just another one of my crazy dreams". I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm always having dreams about great petro finds! Sam

WOW Very cool find!!It's amazing a place like this was kept quiet all these years and what are the chances that the first guy passed on them.
