At the request of our host Jim Potts, this month's featured globes will be non gas or fuel globes. We're looking for oil, tire, battery, paint, hotel, ice cream, barber or beauty shop, milk or any other kind of advertising globes you can share. I'll post my one and only non-gas globe Monday or Tuesday. If you have a globe you can share with us, please include as much info as you can. I don't think we're going to put up big numbers this month, but I bet we see some cool stuff.

How about this a gasket co. that used a globe to advertise. Let's see some more!

-Sorry the picture is not clearer but the globe reads on the top regarded as standard the world over. At the bottom, Hydro-Bright-Amealed.

Here are two pictures of ice cream globes that I used to own. I wish that I had kept them. I used the $$$ to buy something that I had to have.

This French Bauer belongs to a friend of mine. I will be posting his collection soon.

The barbershop globe has been posted before under odd shaped globes. It is one of my favorite.I was told the Barber shop globe is a historical piece taken from the Bourne,Mass. B.Shop 1914-1947 Joshua Harding owner corner of main across the street from the cape Cod railroad.

Lastgas15- Bob, works real hard getting these globes posted and looking up the information. Lets give him the support that he deserves for the services that he is providing for us. Thanks Bob.
Keep up the good work. Rex

Travelers Aid globes were found in airports, train and bus stations, hotels, etc. The Travelers Aid organization is still in existance to help people. This is a one piece etched globe. Note that it has Y.W.C.A. also. The Y probably furnished a room for the night to stranded travelers.

Here's a flame globe that was used on top of Standard, Pan-Am, Utoco,Amoco, or American station ID signs. This one is glass, but there's a plastic version too.

Here is a globe from the Ohio Varnish Co. for Chi-Namel paint. It is 16" on metal. They offered a variety of paints, including auto paint. Their trademark, Chinese babies painting, has to be one of the weirdest. The second image shows a can of their auto and carriage paint. The can says to apply with a clean brush and let stand for 48 hours before using.

Jim,
That isn't what I had envisioned at all when you told me you had a globe advertising paint. Strange logo, but the graphics and color are great.

Here are some more of Lonnie and Aaron's advertising globes. These are all one piece etched.

This Elmer's globe is the only one known to exist. It has great detail.

I am an Allstate agent and a few years back a friend was in Chicago at our home office. This globe was in an office and the owner had no history of how and when it was used. I dont think Sears used globes on their gas as their history with gas is not that old. Does anyone have any history on it or have you ever seen it. I would love to have one.

Great Allstate globe Ron.
I don't have any solid info on your globe other than to say its gotta be post WW2. They didn't manufacture oval plastic globe bodies until after the war.

Sears first marketed gasoline in 1929. There are no known Sears globes although they have been seen in old pictures. According to the globe book Sears got out of the gasoline business in the 1980's. They had sold under the Cross Country and Allstate names. The Sears globes that are pictured in the globe book are from a different company.
