Good Day,

After a lifetime of drooling over gas pumps, especially Wayne 70's, because I think they look great and they have my name on them, I finally took the leap and brought one home. It's going to need some work, if not a complete restoration. I'm torn to do just enough to make it presentable or do a full tear down and do it right. It's fully complete inside but everything is rusted solid. It will be a chore to free up the mechanisms and latches. Wish me luck.

First off, I'm curious about a couple things. I'm guessing the date of manufacture can be determined by the serial number. Doing online searches I couldn't find a list so I'm hoping someone here can be helpful. Mine is serial number 63927-BD. When I have enough posts to share, I'll upload some pics. I look forward to learning from the best. Thanks for your help in advance, and thanks for having me join. Wayne.

Welcome to the OG group. Based on. what I see in the Gas Pump Blue Book, I am guessing your pump is from 1938. The serial number range for 1938 is from 54450-BDL to 72261-BDL. (a total for that year of 17,811) If we assume equal manufacturing numbers for each month, that would be 1484 per month. I will let you do the math from here, in case you want to take a stab at what day of the month your pump was manufactured. Again at this point, we are merely speculating. Enjoy the journey.
