Greetings.
As I get older, I have more of an interest in family history, and that includes petroliana. Growing up, my grandparents owned and ran several business at the same time, to include a filling station in Burrton, Kansas. The brand of gas I recall it being under the most fondly was Skelly. My great-grandparents (last name Ansel) started the business well before the 1940s. In 1972 my aunt and uncle began running the station and it changed brands a number of times before eventually closing it's doors somewhere around 2002-ish. Now, I'm helping my aunt and uncle prepare for an auction, and amongst the scads of items in storage was one of the old plastic Skelly sign lenses. It's huge, but made me smile. They allowed me to buy it, gave me a couple Skelly clocks, and I built a frame for the sign. The Skelly sign now hangs in my garage where I can enjoy it daily, and makes me grin every time I pull into the garage. Following my grandparents passing away, there was a large 2-day auction that sold off what I thought was MOST of the items, so I was shocked to come across this Skelly sign.
I'll also try to attach pictures of the clocks once they were cleaned up (and the blue one repainted from a hideous orange color that was brushed onto it many decades ago).
