Curious if anyone can help my identity if this is a true 1955 fire chief sign? I appreciate your time,help,and knowledge.

Doubtful it is legit. I believe there should be a hyphen between Fire and Chief. I think that was hyphenated up through the early 1960s, when the hyphen was eventually dropped. Maybe someone else will chime in here.
