This is a great GM sign. Based on the typography I would date this sign to the 1930s/40s. $400 + shipping. Measures 29" x 3 1/4". Thanks!

Nice sign. What were these on? They were attached to something. Someone told me once and I can’t remember.

I can't remember either, guys. But, could it have been used in the locomotive division GM owed from 1930 until the 2000's sometime? Looking online, I see it was named GM's Electro-Motive Division. As Bill jr noted above, I think they made diesel power plants, in addition to the locomotives. Again, just throwing that out for consideration. John

Locomotives were branded EMD for US produced Locos and Canada produced it was GMD.

EMD = ElectroMotive Division
GMD = General Motors Diesel

I’ve seen similar signs on stationary generators powered by the 567 diesel. That was the standard Locomotive prime mover for decades. It is a 2 cycle diesel with each cylinder displacing 567 cid. Usually in V8 or V12, mostly non turbo.

It’s definitely off of a generator.
