I listed a WTB for a Wayne 615 pump handle.
Mr. Greg Jones, "G Jones" on here, said he had one in EXCELLENT condition. No welds.
I paid $135 for it. I asked him if he would drop it at a FED EX office. I gave him my FedEx ID number. He took it to a "Pack & Ship" instead.
Pack & Ship is an Independent shipper that handles ALL shipping companies for additional fees.
The FedEx charge would have been $12.80. Pack & Ship charged my account a $23.29 "service charge". For a total charge of $36.09!
The handle arrived and it was OBVIOUS that it had been repaired. That would have been okay, but it was welded and brazed and not even close to straight.
The repair was covered with BONDO! to hide the mess.
I called him and he said okay, if I didn't want it to return it. So I did. $12.80 shipping back.
Now I have $183.89 invested. He refunded me $161.00. Said he "split" the shipping with me!
So it cost me $22.89 to find out he lied about the condition of the handle.
SO, BOTTOM LINE: DON'T BUY A "WAYNE 615 HANDLE" FROM GREG JONES.
Just FYI.

Sometimes it isn't just about the money, but all of your wasted time as well. Honest people are getting harder and harder to find. You are lucky he did refund you most of the money.

So true.
That is why I use PayPal exclusively to pay for things these days. At least you have some sort of recourse.
Years ago I shipped things out without ever getting paid. Just trusted them to send a check.
I won't do that any longer.

Greg, HELP someone?
I didn't blast it!
The weld looked so bad and the handle was so crooked I wire brushed the end of it to see what was under the obviously FRESH primer.
You said you bought it at Hershey last year, yet there was not a mark on the primer. ??
Which really has nothing to do with the fact that you said "it had no repairs".
YOU described the handle as be in good condition.
Why should I have to pay any shipping cost, much less $22.89 to send back a bad part?
It was not my mistake, it was yours. IF it was a mistake.
Thanks Greg. I am glad you can keep it in your collection.
Next time try tis on one of the NEW guys.
At least now some other unsuspecting collector might not take the chance of letting you HELP them.

I'm sorry to jump in here but I have to Take Johns side here.

I have been dealing on Old-Gas since 2012 and with a number of members before that. John and I have done a number of deals along with helping out each other getting pump parts and other stuff. One of the biggest things I have found about John is he is as honest as they get and he expects the same from you in return.

I think all of us on Old-Gas would say the same thing, Be honest about everything! Even if you don't know what condition something is, Please take the time to explain that.

IMO, we are on here to enjoy our hobby / addictions to this stuff!

Thanks
Mike

Mike we agreed to splitting the shipping, i can post you text to me that that was ok since you only asked for one picture when i sent it to you. If you are so good why did you have to take the primer off to see the weld, why didnt you ship it back right away.

The text will prove how two faced you are

I agreed on the split because I wanted to get "something" back. I am sorry I wire brushed the primer to see how bad it was. I am sure you still have more in the can.
I did not ship it back right away because I wanted to see if you would give me anything at all.

Bottom line, you knew the handle was not good and thought I was a newbie who didn't know any better.
Even IF you didn't know it was bad, why should I have to spend anything to return it???? The handle was junk!

I sold a Mae West to a gentleman earlier this year. He drove six hours to pick it up.
When he got here we discovered a tiny BB hit at the bottom of the glass BEHIND the hail guard.
I said I will buy him a new cylinder. H e was fine with that so....
I bought a new cylinder from Petronuts and had it shipped to him....

I TOLD you I was going to take this public. You didn't seem to care.
I was a national sales manager for twenty-eight people and as I always told anyone who worked for me.
NEVER lie to a customer and you will never have to remember what you said.....
Also, your reputation is worth more that anything else. If you make a mistake, own up to it.
You should have refunded EVERTHING to me. Why did you even ask if a split was okay? I didn't ship a bad handle....
Why should I have to pay ANY OF IT?
