Hello to those who are familiar with Gulf! I recently obtained this Gulftane low lead pricing sign and was curious as to what years a sign like this would have been used. One side appears to show 47 cents per gallon, but I don’t know if that was on there while it was in use or if it was added later, etc.

I found this online.

1973: EPA mandates a phased-in reduction of lead content in all grades of gasoline.

Your low lead sign probably dates from 1973 forward. I know the last leaded automobile gas was sold in 1996, but most stations had stopped selling it years earlier. Maybe one of the Gulf specialists can chime in with a more narrow time line for you.

I collect gas pump salt and pepper shakers
and the plastic coin banks made by AVSCO.
