Cool White Star signs in that last pic. Never seen one that says gas and oil on the bottom. I think a similar sign was in a different thread a while back.

Holy cow, look at that globe too!! This is all new White Star stuff to me. That's the first I've ever seen it spelled "Starlene." White Star is one of my favorites, being from Michigan and all. I almost wonder if they were hand painted by the station owner and not 'mass' produced. It looks like the lettering is slightly different on the two next to each other. There are several other hand painted advertisements in this photo, so it could be a possibility. Probably impossible to find those signs, but great picture, thanks for sharing Peter.

Steve I'm thinking that is not White Star of Michigan. I noticed a couple other pictures Peter posted that had this company's stations pictured. At first I was like oh, these must be from the Michigan/Ohio area but if you notice they sell Vico products from Utah, which is Peter's area. I don't think those products were ever sold here in Michigan. In the close up you can also see a "Sphynx Motor Oils" sign. I am not familiar with this company or where it was located either, but what a sign. Also, the signs say "Starlene" where the Michigan based White Star signs said "Staroline" or "Staroleum". I personally was not aware of another White Star company but evidently there must have been a regional company of the same name in Utah at one time. Purely speculation on my own part.....if anyone knows otherwise please enlighten us! Darin

Looking at that Star Oil picture, imo I think that the Starlene and Sphynx are painted on the building like the writing and not separate signs.
Wanted early tin litho signage. petro, farm, auto, etc.

All these pictures that I post are stations that were here in Utah at one time . I can't provide any information about the White star brand . I have never found anything from this company or know of anyone that has but I would love to find something . I've got pictures of 2 different White Star stations . Here is a blowup of the second one which was down in Sugarhouse. Thanks for the feedback . Peter

Here is another Conoco station in Utah. This is Kaysville, UT at 33 S. Main. It is the Howard Cloward Conoco station and this is late 1956 when Conoco rebuilt this station. The new Tokheim 300 pumps are in, but the station hasn't been resurfaced yet.

Purely speculation on my own part.....if anyone knows otherwise please enlighten us! Darin Darin, You are exactly right, that would make a lot more sense. Especially since Peter's picture's are from that area (and Peter confirmed above). Which explains the different spelling too. Good call on spotting the Vico, as evidence too. I wasn't even thinking Utah, I just got excited when I saw White Star , as White Star of Michigan is my favorite brand... LOL A lot of similarities. Still very cool stuff that Peter posted. So that makes at least three different White Star Brands that I know of (Detroit, Indianapolis and Utah). Great pics Peter... thanks for posting all of these. -Steve
