Regarding a 9-3/4” round Tydol Ethyl red pump plate. Doing research in OldGas, I find conflicting posts relating to the correct color of the back of a real sign.
On 2/5/2010, Pablo states “repops have white backs” and on a real sign “backs are generally light green but NEVER white” On 10/17/2013, Tomstoybox states on real sign “most have green back” On 9/23/14, Advertologist shows front and back pictures of the sign in question with a white back as “the Real McCoy”
So there seems to be some disparity on the correct color of the back of a genuine red Tydol Ethyl pump plate.
Hoping to get some clarification/recent thoughts from the OldGas community - Thanks!

My apologies Randy - I incorrectly assumed the back was white in your picture! Do you believe that if the back doesn’t show any traces of green (but the grommets are in exactly the same position as shown in your picture) that it’s a repop? I’ll post a picture of mine shortly...thanks!

My sign - the back is essentially the same cream color as the front (although it appears more white in my picture, but looks more like the color in your photo)...Your thoughts?

Dave, was your picture taken under fluorescent lights (or other non-natural light)? Fluorescent lights cause whites to turn green. The reason I ask is because in the picture, it appears to me that the front has the same amount of green as the back.
Can you take a pic of the front and back in natural light, outdoors?
I’m not doubting Randy’s opinion, but the color of both photos looks off, just because of the lighting. I would like to see it in natural light for future reference for the rest of us collectors.
Thanks.

Hi Steve - yes, pictures taken under fluorescent lighting. I’ll take some pictures Friday under natural lighting and repost!

Pictures taken outdoors in some rare Pacific Northwest sunlight (especially at this time of year). Appreciate everyone’s thoughts - thanks!

Ok, so the white color on the back is different than the white color on the front?
Thanks for posting those other pictures. I was just curious if there was a difference. Good to know what to look for.
On the square version of the Flying A PPP the front/back color is considerably different.
Thanks for posting those other pictures

Thanks for the reply Randy, and especially for the information about the tip of the A lining up with the H - this is why I joined OldGas, this group is a storehouse of knowledge and help!
