Anyone try applying vinyl auto graphics wrap over a clear glass globe lens? I'm checking it out to get a local auto graphics supplier make the brand I want to apply to my gas pump. Thinking a light inside the globe would still be visible through the vinyl wrap. Could even have the graphics supplier create a set of "aged" decals for the pump panels.

Yeah sure, I know its not original or true vintage, but I am after the branded look for show and not focused on authenticity.

It can be done pretty easy ! Had this Neon Clock front glass done by a vinyl guy I know . I picked out the image and had him refine the design and he applied it to the reverse. Came out nice I thought . Image of it attached .

Cool! Thanks! I am searching for some obscure brand names and I have found images online, so I'll take those to a local graphics place and have some reproduce them for me. Maybe even have them "age" the design to go with my vintage pump.

I have and would suggest using a clear lens from Vic's 66 or the like. I did it with a hair dryer because I felt that my heat gun would burn through it.
I used a 14" round decal.

My concern in his other post would be that it wouldn’t sit flat because of the curvature of the lens and you would have overlap (I erased that part because it must work). The two items above look great. Did you guys have any overlap problem?

I think the vinyl wrap has a good amount of flex and stretch to conform easily to the contour of the curved globe lens. Once the wrap is on, the lap around the backside of the lens can be trimmed to be less noticeable. Also, the image on the wrap could be done with a clear edge around the image, so the lap on the backside would be clear.
