I got this list of porcelain sign makers off this site a number of years ago. I think it came from DB but I don't remember. We used to have some great posters and crazy good discussions on here when I was starting out 20 or so years ago. I thought some would Like to see the list again...

The following is a list of the manufacturers names that are found on the sign in this book. Most of the major company's will be present as they produced high quantities of signs. Street addresses are not listed because some companies did business at more than one location. Many companies listed were manufacturers of very different products such as stove castings building panels kitchen ware & other utilitarian items. Although it is difficult to establish the dates listed will give you an idea as to a particular company's heyday. A (*) designates that limited information is available for the years of production. It is of interest to note that one of the most frequently encountered names found on signs EM Burdick of Chicago, was a distributor not a manufacturer. This is true of other company's as well.

Hey BC Dave ,

St Thomas made many porcelain signs , including 4 x 8 coca colas and the large V 8 Ford signs that are commanding amazing money these days . GSW made amazing signs including the porcelain Gutta percha vertical dog signs and i would imagine the King cole that is very expensive for the large version with full color . Just an FYI

While all of you collectors contribute of this information, we all should thank you, but to all of you who are now collecting signs, please take notice to the "from DB" above. Before he is already forgotten, he was one of the greatest contributors of information here on Old Gas. Sadly he left us way too soon. You name it, he could answer any question. I always though I was one of his best friends because he was always emailing me, and he was the one to establish all the values I used in my first two gas pumps books, but this was not true, it seemed he was everyone's friend. I often wondered if he sat up at night answering all the emails he got, he was everyone's friend. As many will tell you, I miss DB.
