Hello Everyone!

My brother has been super busy lately so I am taking over for him this month, and we both apologize that POTM is a few days late. Thank you all for great participation for last month. For this month I am going to change it up a bit to hopefully get a lot of participation! This months POTM is any and all showcase pumps. Showcase pumps are one of my favorite styles of pumps because of the unique and eye capturing designs. I unfortunately do not own a showcase pump yet, so here is a picture of my brothers Wayne 60S. I hope this month goes crazy with pictures!

Enjoy! Bring on the pumps!!!

This is my Wayne 50 showcase pump. It was originally a Firestone so decided to restore it as a Firestone. My good friend Don Sherwood offered it to me and I was able to buy it because of a recent sale of one of my trucks. I am very happy to have it in my collection. Here is the before and after.

These are my two, like Matt when I found the 50 the end panels for Firestone were on it and side panels were missing, the gulf globe was also on it as found. It was Matt that encouraged me to do the rusto on the 50. Thanks to an oldgas member the sides were found for the pump. One a rusto and the other restored when I did restorations way back when.

This 34 is not a showcase pump it is known as display pump. Tokheim also produced a 34 showcase pump. This is all I have to contribute for now.

Thanks,
Rob

Thanks Les,
The other thing that is kind of unique about this one is the visi is shorter than all my other 34 pumps. I wonder if this is factory? I can’t think of a good reason why someone would modify it.

I was going to wait until this was done before sharing it but it is going to be some time before it gets finished and it will be a good addition to this POTM. An oldgas member found it in a scrap yard on his way to my friend Don Sherwoods house. Before he left with the pumps that were sold to him Don asked if he wanted to sell it. A deal was made and it was unloaded. Don decided it was too big of a project and knew I would put it back together so it was offered to me. There are parts missing, broken castings and lots of bad rust. The first picture is how it looked when I purchased it. The second is staged the best I could get it for a BOTW picture. The last is after casting repairs and main display case work done. It is getting a rustoration.

I can not believe the pumps still have globes and glass at this abandoned station.

This is the only photo in my saved archives showing a couple showcase pumps......they appear to be originally Firestone pumps that were painted white and switched over to Union 76 as you can still see Firestone on the faceplates of the Wayne 40's. (At least I think they are, I'm not super pump knowledgeable!) The station owner must have liked everything in pairs!!

That’s not two pumps...it’s a Wayne 56...twin jumbo showcase. Here’s 1/2 of one I brought home a few years back:

I learned something new today about that particular pump model! Like I said, I'm not pump savvy since I don't collect them as I have no room for them....

No one has posted a Wayne 71 yet. I do not remember where this picture came from but thought it would be nice here. It is an early version with the cast bezels instead of the stainless.

Saw a picture of this pump earlier in the thread by Petropumps. Got two halves of a Wayne 56
back together. Half the pump came from Oregon and the other came from Michigan in pieces,
but mostly there. These things are beasts!!

A couple of mine. The Wayne 71 was originally a Firestone pump that was later converted to Union 76. Note the original Firestone ad glass sitting inside showcase and the Firestone meter faces.

Fantasy globe.

Remember, this is an illustration, not a photograph.

It looks like 3/4 of a Gill globe.

I believe you could duplicate it using a cut down CAPCO and custom lenses.

I plan on trying to duplicate it one day.

Later . . .

Thought it might be cool for you guys to see a 34 display next to a standard 34. Note the height difference...real 34 displays have an extra step in the base. Quick and easy way to tell if you have a real one or just a standard 34 someone threw display doors on. Actually, the last 34 “display” that went through a major auction house and brought big bucks was not an original display!

This is a Wayne 50A that Gas Pump Ronnie restored in the 90s

He asked me to post this. Sorry it’s late.
