I started collecting these lids about 10 years ago when I viewed one that had been painted! Visually, it drew my eyes to the piece and I was able to notice the subtle artwork that was cast into some of them. I had an artist friend here at home that was willing to do some painting for me and I have been on the hunt ever since! I don't go at it very hard, but I do occasionally pick up another one and it spurs my interest again.
I recently had another OldGasser contact me with the Independent lid and asked if I was interested. That motivated me to get it and a couple others headed out to the painter and then up on the wall. They are easy to display and don't take up a lot of room, so I guess I will keep on collecting them. If anyone has one that is unusual or interesting, I would sure be glad to add it to my collection!! Here are a couple photos of most of the lids that I have collected.

Good stuff Kevin. Never got into lids, may need to have a conversation with myself.

Excellent paint jobs and great display. There are so many different ways this hobby can take you and all of them preserve a great history. I need to stay away from this particular addiction!

Very cool. Those lids jump out at you when they're detail painted like that.

Yes Kevin I really liked the look of your display when I visited. Gave me lots of ideas on collectable items in this hobby.

Always like to look at your additions to this collection Kevin. I still need another Bennett High Boy like that!
