Hello Everyone!

The pump of the month for March 2019 is the Erie 748 style of pumps. I chose to do this pump this month because they are pretty cool looking short pumps. They have a nice look to them with the style and the trim accent pieces. Here are the pumps included in this months thread.

-Erie 748-10: 1948, "Nu-Lo" pump, came with a 13' hose.
-Erie 748-20: 1948, "Nu-Lo" pump, came with a retractable hose.
-Erie 248-10: 1948. Twin version of the 748.

The above info is again from Jacks great book. I hope some of you can participate!

Attached is a picture of my Erie 748. This should be a fairly common pump so I'm surprised there are not more posts.

This is the first pump I ever bought and restored. I bought it from a antique dealer and collector in Las Vegas back in 1994. It was a decent restorable pump. I bought a HVLP paint system and this was my practice pump. I still have the pump. Had no idea what would happen to me after buying this first pump lol!

I've been meaning to post my pair of 748's since the first of the month but kept forgetting to look up the pictures I had of them. These were two of the first pumps I ever restored. We used to have a local DX station service and fuel up all of our company vehicles back in the early seventies and they were still using a pair of these Eries then. They finally replaced them with newer style pumps but I always remember using these. This pair is now on loan to our new local museum here in Monett, MO. I found the nos pump plates for them and the globes were a couple of ones that got me started with the globe habit too. Rob, yours is the first one besides mine that I've seen with the window frame bezels polished. I remember that being several hours of the buffer and elbow grease to get them shining but it sure looks great....GB

Hello Marshal ,

I visited the Niagra Falls years ago and I drove around looking for pumps in that area. I think I have a picture of that Erie ! I wanted to buy it but no one was there. I know I will have a picture somewhere. I bet it’s the same pump lol! Just curious where you found it? Thanks Rob

Hi Rob,

I've been collecting pumps for more that 35 years so I'll have to admit that I've lost track of where many if them came from. Not sure but think it came from a small town by the name of Eden, NY which is some 30 miles south of Buffalo. I believe I put the original ad glass in it.
