These were left on a work bench in a building I own and basically used for storage. What would these be used for when they were made? For cash storage? These were made by the National Cash Register Co. I’m Dayton, Oh. I plan to sell these ( for cheap) but was curious if they had any real value. Thanks for any assistance.

I am pretty sure this is a cash drawer base for a old cash register. If the store had different departments they would push a certain button on the cash register to open the corresponding cash drawer and thus keep the monies separate. I've seen some old wood cash registers with multiple drawers all the way to the floor.

To get the drawers out there should be a small lever at the back inside that you lift to release the mechanism and allow the drawer to be pulled all the way out.
