Like some of the gang, I would also say "rare", and "never seen it before". Hard to figure value because of no readily available prior sales info on similar signs, and the damage at the top. It's quite possible it hasn't been trimmed on the right side. I think that edge is being covered up by the grass. My gut says the $800 is a price quite a few collectors would quickly pay.
Because of the rarity, I'm sure there are also collectors who would gladly pay the $800, then have at least the top of the sign restored (I wouldn't), add the thermometer, and replicate the original wood frame. Wow, wouldn't this be an even more dynamite piece at that point? John
