I have fond memories of Chuck vending at either Hershey or Carlisle perhaps some twenty-five years ago. Always lots of laughing and banter in his sales booth. One time, Chuck remarked that he thought I looked like Rich Little, the comedian. I then proceeded to crack him up doing a Richard Nixon, "I am not a crook" impression. I swear Chuck asked me to repeat that "performance" for customers in his swap space, EVERY TIME I ran into him in the years that followed. Chuck and I always had a good laugh about this.
He was truly a one-of-a-kind human being. With the warmest of thoughts, please allow me to give my sympathy to all of Chuck's loved ones. John in Wisconsin

Chuck was a class act. He was very knowledgeable and quick to share. We always had a lot of laughs when we were together. Great friend and like Ron, tears here. In my prayers. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Several years ago I had called Chuck about some things I needed and he wasn't able to help me with anything but the little screws that hold the lenses onto glass bodied globes. He told me he would send them right out and when they arrived, his invoice said that they were free and that he was glad to help out! He didn't know me at all at the time but took the time to help out another collector. That left a lasting impression with me! Rest in peace Chuck!

I never had the privilege of meeting him but it sounds like he was a class act, prayers sent to his family, may God comfort you all in this sad time.

Early on in my collecting life (before internet, books, petro clubs, etc. early 70's) I was 'flying by the seat of my pants', not knowing much about globe values or anything. All I knew that I loved the old petro stuff. I met Chuck & his brother at a spring Carlisle meet with a big display of repro globes. I was fascinated by all of the brands and colors. I consequently sold some of my rarest globes and bought reproductions from Chuck. At that point in time, quantity was more important to me than quality. There wasn't anyone around that I knew to steer me straight! Life after that was & still is good!!

It was my first pump restoration about 20 years ago and someone told me to contact Chuck for parts, etc. Over the years we talked frequently and he once sent me an old tin "contains lead" sign for my Wayne 615 yard ornament pump for free (it's still on the pump). Chuck was born in Nebraska and don't remember how he ended up in N.Y., so we would always talk about his Nebraska roots.
One of the good guys that will be missed by those who knew him.
Dave
