This is a neat Gates sign from the 1950's. It is in very good condition, and came from an old-time auto parts store in our town over 40 years ago. It is single-sided painted tin, and measures 19-1/2" wide by 16" high.
The sign promotes Gates Rubber Floor Mats for residential and commercial entry doors. These mats were often sold in auto parts stores. This is an NOS sign, with excellent, vivid colors and just a few minor scratches near the top. I believe this might be a sales rack sign because it has a small (1/4") flange along the bottom. However, it displays nearly flush, when hung on the wall.
This sign has nifty 1950's period graphics. Here's Mom in apron guarding the door, and instructing little football-playing Johnny to wipe his feet on that Gates mat "or else".
