Biggest Amoco sign you will ever see, rates right up there with the budweiser sign. When I was in St Louis I would go right by it headed to the historic libaray researching the history of Pierce Oil.

Even though that station tore the sign down, they have almost always had a big sign at that corner since the early 30's (with the exception of 1959-61). Like Jim said, there is still a large sign there today. There is a very nice four page article about that sign (written by Wayne Henderson) in the July 2017 PCM magazine. Here is what the sign looks like today. Not exactly the Crown sign it was, but give them a little credit for keeping the nostalgia. google maps -Steve
