if this sign isn't an original its darn close, I would be scared of it- back is even correct, mounting holes correct orange is possibly off- I believe this seller (47signal) knows as he states: Porcelain Hancock pump sign unknown age & what the BIN price is set at - your 2¢ .. ... 292214365068

i do think its fake... if you compare the top grommet holes, the location is slightly different. Also, the roosters eyeball is different than the originals i have seen

there is a possibility sign is orig, everything looks good gromet wise etc. except for the color orange was off like the green streak in another post, should have took the chance & hit the buy in now for that price- this one here matches the front but with the white background definitely not a orig .. ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-HANCOCK-...N-/302383721701if somebody on here bought the black back one fill us in..

notice the eye of the rooster on your real one Randy, compared to the one that sold... that was the main difference i noticed and would be the biggest red flag to me. that and the grommet holes appear a bit too high and holes appear to be missing the porcelain on the inside (hard to tell for sure) but that is the #1 indicator of an overseas fake if so

This is the second one I've seen on eBay in the last 6 months with a black back. Only issue with them both that I can see is the top grommet holes are off. The eye is correct on Randy's and the one on eBay too. My sign is NOS, it has the same eye pictured like the one on eBay and came from a close friend who owned a station back in the day.
Wanted anything Flying A Gas, Signal Gas, Hancock oil co, and Sunland.
Thanks Anthony

I agree, very small details (like the eye or amount of white around it) can vary from sign to sign, possibly within the same batch.

i just looked thru the sellers feedback... most all of the signs they have sold were fakes/repros. that might be a good indicator
