I have a Wayne 70 I got about a year ago in anticipation of putting in the shop/garage I am planning. It appears to be a survivor with original paint and minimal "restoration ". I am leaning toward leaving it as a survivor but would like to add correct company logos which is where I need help. My initial thought was this was a Shell pump but the holes in the covers baffle me. They are exactly the same on both covers which leads me to believe they held the oil company logo. The pattern is unique to me but I am hoping someone here has come across them and recognizes the brand. I included the serial in hopes a build date might be determined. Thanks ncboat

Never seen that plate hole pattern before but happy to hear you're keeping it as found. That is a nice pump, with L on the ID plate wonder if it was a station lighter pump? I'm sure Jack will chime in and give you the info.

I was excited to find it and it was local. I did get a bit if an education on its weight. LOL

Looks to me that there were at least 2 different pump plates installed in its life.

Your pump was made in 1946 but I can't help you with what the BDL designation stood for.

That pump is really clean. It looks like there is only one paint job on it. It may have been stripped and repainted in the past. It appears to have been red at one time judging by the red paint in the serial number. Back in the day when pumps were repainted on the island they got the trim and ID tags painted over on a lot of them and that would explain the red paint in the serial number.

I agree on it having two different pump plates on it. One set of holes look like Texaco Firechief or Skychief.

Thanks Done4 for the date, makes the pump only a few years older than me. I thought it was original paint but close inspection looks like a small amount of paint around the patent plate like it was taped off. There is overspray on the inside of the pump which in hind sight a factory paint job would not have.
I will have to look at a Texaco sign.

Since I want to keep the pump as is, were there any brands other than Shell that would have had a yellow pump? Any images ?
Thanks
