Attached (if I did i correctly) are some pictures of a pump I acquired a few years ago. I am a sign collector, but happened upon the pump in my travels -- figured it might be neat to restore some day. I am thinking this is a "646T" as discussed in some of the threads on this site. The identification plate I believe says "646TW" (TW = Tidewater?). It has the shoebox globe holder, but I don't have the globe (i had a mint globe at one point, but sold it as I feared I would eventually break it -- obviously before I had the pump). I have the Flying A glass which I took out of the doors and stored separately to avoid it being broken. Can someone confirm if this is the "646T"?

Neat, you don't see these that often and it looks like it in great shape. Lucky dog!

Yes, it is a Tidewater pump. Some companies used just a "T" in the model number and some used "TW"

The pump at some point was rebranded with a Phillips 66 Sticker (see shield near straps on pics above). Per Wikipedia:
"In 1966, Phillips Petroleum Company (now ConocoPhillips) purchased Tidewater's western refining, distribution and retailing network. Phillips immediately rebranded all Flying A stations in the region to Phillips 66."
I suppose this pump could have been rebranded as a part of that purchase, but I wonder how the heck it made it to the east coast here in Pennsylvania. It is fun to think about how all of this stuff travels over the years getting from point A to B!

Hello I'm new to this site so excuse me if I do anything out of line... I just picked I up a pump almost identical i to the one you have. .its also a 646tw. I picked it up last weekend. I did not realize that is was rare. How much value will I loose changing it from tydol to say Texaco? Just curious because I'm not crazy about the original green. Thanks

Thanks Chris, These Bennett's were everywhere. Not rare at all. Only thing that makes it different is the Shoebox globe holder on top. Make it whatever brand that you choose. Sell the globe holder to recoup a bit of the cost. As for value, pretty common pump so you will not affect the worth at all, in my opinion? Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Paul thanks for the reply. Ok sounds good. Misunderstood, I thought since it was a "tw" it was rare or valuable. Thanks again

Im not sure about the rarity, generally that pump model is definitely around, but the shoebox variety has to be rare. I didnt even know shoebox globes existed until a few years ago! Im sure Im biased but I think the fact its a shoebox makes is cooler in my mind. I wouldnt be afraid of the weird colors doing a resto. My best pump restos have been odd colors. I hate red/white personally, doesnt sell, but its personal taste of course! Im making the repro shoebox bodies, Lance at Pogo is making some lenses right now for me, expecting them anytime now. Lance can also do custom orders. Here's the link to whats being made: http://oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=112649&Number=670974#Post670974Paul
