Just picked up this Gilbarco pump and after looking in Jack`s book I cant nail down the exact model number, the door looks exactly like a model number 994 but it has a retractable hose like the 906 but the door trim on the 906 is different? This may be a Canadian model if there is a difference but I am new to this and need all the help I can get. Thanks in advance.

Yes, a Canadian version. Many pump sold in Canada had different trim, but basically the same pump.

It might be a 996. The model number will be different between a retractable hose pump and a hanging hose pump. The early version of your pump has another piece of trim below the window and the window is smaller.

Ok thanks guys, so I am safe to say its a Canadian version of the 906? The ID plate is missing, did they have any markings inside the pump to identify it?

This is a Canadian Gilbarco 906, yours is a 996.

From what I have seen - the 99x (992, -4, -6) pumps were available between 1947-1953 when they were succeeded by the 90x pumps.

The last figure will tell you what kind of arrangement there was for the hose - a "6" (996 or 906) will be a retractable hose. A "4" will be a hanging hose with a return cable and the "2" may indicate a hanging hose...

Then the confusion with the doors... visually it appears as if the 99x should use a door with different width och meter and ad glass window. They also use crome strips - one or two..
The 90x use a door with equal width of meter and ad glass window.
But IIUC, the doors are interchangeable so what you see on a pump today may not be what it was delivered with.

Other differences are sight glass and foot of these two models.
