Although not really an oil/gas subject, I am looking to use some LED lighting in/on a display for my collecting. Anyone have any experience with this stuff? Any recommendations/info greatly appreciated.

I have used commercial LED's from an electrical supply house. They come in long strips which I cut and wire to the runner... which is a starter, of sorts, but needed to power up the lights. They work very well and come with two sided tape for easy application. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Hey Steve, I did a project last year where I made four movie poster light boxes for double-sided movie posters. I used LED tape strips on a white masonite backing. The project turned out great - the posters look awesome. If you want, PM me and I can tell you a little about how to power them, how I wired them up, etc. Here is a link to the light strips I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HSF65MC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1Thanks, BrianH

This is a cabinet from ikea and its lit with an led light kit they sell for this cabinet the name for the lights is Dioder. This is better than the thin strips that are in a big role and it's very bright.

I restored a lubester with LED light strips, worked well. http://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=98741&Number=599667#Post599667They stick on but it's best to mount them because they don't stay in place well over time. Colored LED have a white setting but it's a little off white (bluish), just white ones are available too and that white is pretty clean. Some of these come with remotes, I personally like the remote. You want to mount the strips so they are not directly visible and also you need some distance for the light to shine otherwise you see each LED spot, like little spot lights, need like 6" of space to a surface you may be bouncing off of (if you are). Man for the price this stuff is pretty amazing. This little 6 light strip light was only $1.36 from 1000Bulbs. With all the other pieces I needed and shipping it cost me $27 all together. In this pic it's just laying on top of the sign. And a lot of the light is actually reflecting up off the floor. I still have to figure out exactly how I'm going to integrate it into the display. Pretty cool stuff though.
