I just purchased a Tokheim 39 Tall made on 2/47 and it has a Metal Base, my question is when did this pump go to a Cast Base ?

Based on the pumps I've run across, It has been my belief that the cast iron bases were earlier production pumps. Thus, I haven't run across an original short Tokheim 39 with a cast iron base.

I agree with Dave. In all the years I have played with this stuff, I have determined that it was always the early version that had cast iron bases. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Also, I have noticed the ones with cast iron bases have four ad glass and the stamped steel have two ad glass. In 1947 they switched to short pumps but tall were still available into the 50s which is why I think they switched to steel with two ad glasses.

I have also noticed that the ones with the cast bases, also have the cast iron nozzle rest assembly, as opposed to the stamped steel one.

Also all the cast base ones I have owned had aluminum faces instead of porcelain.
