Thoughts on this sign. Owner says it appears to be painted. I noticed it's missing the white outline the originals have.

The spacing looks "Shady" to me but I'm no Signal expert. I would vote repop.

Since the sign was made for a specific Gas Station; there is a possibility that it was made by a local Sign Shop for the Owner/Leasee of that particular Station.
If that is the case; IMO the sign could be considered an original. (but one would have to find proof that the sign was made in the '40s-'50s)
Both the Flying A Station and later the Chevron Station, I worked at; had signs made by a local Sign Shop for the Station Owners. These signs; helped to make the Stations more "personalized" for Local Customers.... What happened to the signs? I have no idea... Perhaps they are out there somewhere in someone's Collection or stuck in someone's "close to falling down" garage and/or barn?

Here's another picture of it. Looks like they had the word "signal" outlined in green also. I agree bob that it would be original, maybe not as valuable, but original.

I remember this sign being on Craigs List or E-Bay a year or so ago. I think it was for $200 or about that, maybe $250. I would buy if reasonably priced, definitely from a SIGNAL Station originally. Ed.
