Hi,

My first post and let me say thanks for being accepted into what I'm sure is a fine forum for learning about and the discussion of all things petroliana-related.

I'm 63 years old, retired 5+ years and a lifelong antique car nut, though I haven't owned an old car in over 15 years. I'm just getting interested in petroliana, so I know basically nothing of the subject, other than that I'm interested in it and want/need to learn more.

I have a soft spot for underdogs when it comes to old cars, and I suspect that I will lean that way concerning petroliana. Tri-Five Chevys, Corvettes, Mustangs and Hemi 'Cudas are fine, but I lean more toward Step-down Hudsons, Bullet-Nose Studebakers and the ubiquitous Ramblers. I don't follow the popularity contests. So, I'm not so interested in Texaco, Shell and Gulf as I might be some relatively obscure company that was never heard of in East Tennessee. That does not mean I'm not a fan of those brands, only that I enjoy finding out about the more unheralded companies.

Well, that's probably enough about me. Hoping to get to know some of the experts and, with that, hoping for the opportunity to learn a few things.

Thanks again for accepting me.

...have you attended the Dixie Gas swap meet in Sevierville, same weekends as the Pigeon Forge Rod Run?...it's held twice a year, in March and September...sounds right up your alley!

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I have never attended that show, although it is probably within 20-25 miles of my home. Unless things change, I will be attending both the spring & fall event in 2017. I have a friend that usually sets up as a vendor.
